Story Architect Desktop 0.8.4

Hi guys!
The new bug tracking system is paying off, and we have an update ready with just one new feature. Everything else is fixes for issues discovered in the app!
Timeline in script cards
Yes, the timeline is now built into the cards, so you can see where in the script the card you’re working on is located, as well as the entire history with all the timeline’s features — colors and bookmarks.
The timeline works both ways: selecting a card highlights the corresponding area on the timeline, and selecting a scene on the timeline selects that card and shows its settings.
Bug fixes
I’ll be honest — this is something we’ve been working toward for a long and painful time. Sometimes, fixing one small bug, from an outside observer’s perspective, can take an enormous amount of time…
But now we have tools that help us untangle this web much faster. Which means that with every release, you’ll have an increasingly stable version of the app that’s even more pleasant to work with :)
So, here’s what’s been improved in the latest update:
- When deleting projects from the start page, they are now moved to your computer’s Recycle Bin (Trash) instead of being permanently deleted.
- Added project file validation when opening projects, allowing certain issues that could cause problems when saving to be automatically fixed.
- Added the ability to attach new documents to characters, locations, and worlds directly during their creation (just like with folders).
- Added the ability to clear formatting from selected text.
- Fixed an issue with pasting the hash of a custom theme.
- Fixed a crash when attempting to import files in unsupported formats.
- Improved cursor positioning when undoing the last action.
- Improved how project names are displayed in commands.
- Fixed an issue with scene number information not updating correctly during project collaboration.
- Fixed a crash when updating the list of characters and locations from screenplay text.
- Fixed a crash that occurred when the operating system blocked modules from loading.
- Fixed an issue where information about a deleted text block was not properly cleared, which could subsequently cause crashes when working with document text across different modules.
- Fixed an issue with application settings being cleared in certain cases.
- Fixed a crash when merging previously split paragraphs.
- And, of course, plenty of other smaller fixes and improvements!
Thank you so much for your feedback, friends! We really appreciate you sending bug reports and sharing detailed information about how the issues occurred!
The work continues!
Next up on our roadmap is another stability-focused release in November.
Stay tuned, friends!
